A motorcyclist leaving a parking lot in Selden was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle, Suffolk County police said.

Charles Ciapi, 50, of Selden, was hit by an eastbound 2013 Hyundai about 9:45 p.m. on Route 25 near Blue Point Road, police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai, Julia Leyboldt, 19, of West Sayville, was not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, police said, and no summonses were issued or charges lodged.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-854-8652.
