A convicted and admitted sex offender from Mastic Beach is expected to be sentenced Wednesday to 11/2 to 3 years in prison for planting a video camera in the changing room of swimsuit models in Southampton last summer.

Robert Liguori, 52, had pleaded guilty to eight counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance in exchange for the sentence.

Liguori presented himself as a fashion photographer at the swimsuit fashion show last year, gained entry and placed the live video camera in a makeshift curtained dressing room used by the models, officials said. An intern working at the event found the camera.

Liguori has been a level 2 sex offender since he was convicted in 2000 on federal charges of trafficking in child pornography, transmitting child pornography and transporting child pornography interstate. He was discharged from federal supervision in 2007.

Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota has said he will urge the court to upgrade Liguori's sex offender status to level 3.
