A 21-year-old Patchogue man was seriously injured Saturday night when he crossed over the double-yellow lines on westbound Montauk Highway in Brookhaven and struck another car head-on, Suffolk County police said.

Ken Clark Jr. was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital with what police termed "serious head trauma" following the 6:55 p.m. crash.

The other driver, identified by police as Lori Miele, 38, of Brookhaven, was treated for minor injuries.

Police said Clark was driving his 1999 Toyota westbound on Montauk between Old River Road and Old South County Road when he crossed the double-yellow lines and collided head-on with the 2010 Subaru driven by Miele. Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
