A convicted sex offender from Riverside who had failed to register his latest change of address was arrested Thursday when police said he arrived for a required check-in at police headquarters in Southampton with marijuana.

Southampton Town police said Benjamin S. Griffin, 55, was arrested at headquarters at 1:15 p.m. and charged with failure to register a change of address on the sex offender registry as well as unlawful possession of marijuana. Arraignment details were not available.

Police said Griffin had registered his address as the Department of Social Services trailer in Riverside, but had not stayed there since April.
