The state Department of Environmental Conservation said Thursday it has lifted a ban on shellfish harvesting on 7,500 acres covering Lloyd Harbor, Coast Guard Cove and Huntington Bay in Huntington Town.
The ban was imposed May 16 after an elevated level of saxitoxin, a naturally occurring marine biotoxin that can be dangerous to humans in high doses, was detected.
The DEC said the public can find the status of shellfishing areas by calling 631-444-0480.
