Shelter Island house fire linked to emergency generator
A Shelter Island home was seriously damaged Saturday afterrnoon in a fire sparked by an emergency generator, police said.
The gas-powered generator was put into use after the home lost power during the storm, according to the Shelter Island Police Department.
“The three occupants of the house escaped without injury,” the department said in a statement.
Shelter Island, Greenport and Sag Harbor fire crews responded.
