Firefighters battled an early morning fire Thursday at a Shelter Island home valued at $5.2 million.
Shelter Island firefighters were called to the house on Tuthill Drive at about 6:30 a.m., Suffolk County Fire Rescue dispatchers said. Three other fire departments responded and the fire was controlled in about 45 minutes, officials said.
The four-bedroom home was built in 1938 and had an assessed value last year of $5.2 million, according to property records.
The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire were not immediately determined.
