Sheriffs: Woman drove drunk over 100 mph on LIE

A Kings Park woman was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Thursday after she drove more than 100 mph on the Long Island Expressway in Islandia, Suffolk sheriffs said.

Deana Gorman-Olsen, 35, "seemed lethargic, disoriented and she had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath" when Deputy Sheriff Brian Rasiak pulled her over in a 2012 Toyota Camry shortly after 4:30 a.m., the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

The deputy sheriff had observed the Toyota speeding in the fast lane of the LIE at Old Nichols Road and stopped the car, authorities said.

Gorman-Olsen "was observed having poor balance, bloodshot and glassy eyes, and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests," the release said.

She submitted to a blood test that resulted in a .13 percent blood-alcohol level, authorities said.

In addition to driving while intoxicated, Gorman-Olsen was charged with operating without a license, speeding and numerous other vehicle and traffic violations.

Her arraignment information was not immediately available.
