Police investigating the gunshot deaths of a young couple found in their home in Shirley Thursday said "one or both" died from "self-inflicted injuries," but a day later still have not said if investigators believe  if one was murdered or who fired the fatal shots.

Suffolk County police identified the couple as Destiny Leinfus, 20, and Gavin Bifalco, 19, and said Seventh Precinct officers responding to a 4:48 p.m. 911 call at the home on Park Circle found the two shot dead upon arrival at the scene. The two lived with the parents of Leinfus, police said.

Police said investigators are awaiting the results of autopsies by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and said detectives "are investigating who fired the shots," in a statement on the incident saying only: "Detectives believe one or both died from self-inflicted injuries."

Additional details were not immediately available.
