Suffolk police at the scene of a fatal Friday morning crash in Shirley that killed Sandra Steinberg, 33, of Moriches, authorities said Sunday. Credit: John Walthers

A driver killed Friday in Shirley when her car crashed into a pickup parked on the shoulder of William Floyd Parkway has been identified as Sandra Steinberg of Moriches, police said.

Steinberg, 33, was driving a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage south on the parkway shortly after 8 a.m. when the hatchback struck an unoccupied 2004 Dodge Ram parked on the shoulder, just south of Dawn Drive, Suffolk police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said Friday.

The Mirage was impounded for a safety check.

Suffolk police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call 631-852-8752.
