Shirley woman, 36, charged in shooting of stepson, police say
A Shirley woman accused of shooting her stepson on Mother's Day was arraigned Monday on a charge of first-degree assault, authorities said.
Aneesha Davis, 36, fired her husband's gun "numerous" times in their William Floyd Parkway home after he left the house over an argument about their divorce, Suffolk County police and the district attorney's office said. The shooting was reported at 7:20 p.m., police said.
Her 22-year-old stepson was wounded, but Davis told investigators that she did not intentionally aim at him, police said. Police did not say how many times he was shot.
The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue. He was in good condition Monday afternoon, police said.
Bail for Davis was set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond. She was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.
