A Shirley man has been missing for more than a week, his sister and Suffolk County police said Sunday.

Ronnie Speier, 53, left his Forrest Avenue home on foot the morning of Saturday, Oct. 16, and has not been seen since, police said. His sister, Martine Cogent, 43, who lives with him, said Sunday that Speier didn't look well that morning. "His eyes looked very wide like something was wrong," she said. Speier has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.. Speier had $100 on him but left his identification at home, she said.. "He's very friendly," his sister said. "He wouldn't hurt anybody. The only person he's a danger to is himself.".

Speier does not have his medication, Cogent said. Police described Speier as 5-feet-10, 165 pounds, with blue eyes, gray hair, gray beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing jeans, a brown fleece jacket and white sneakers. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk detectives at 631-852-6040.
