A Shirley man was killed in a single-vehicle accident while crossing William Floyd Parkway in Shirley Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Rayvern Matthews, 66, was crossing the parkway at Brushwood Drive around 1:10 p.m. when police said he was struck by a 2014 Mercedes C300 traveling southbound.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was Nyeshia Skipwith, 31, of Shirley.

Matthews suffered severe head trauma and was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Skipwith was not injured and remained at the scene, police said. No criminal charges will be filed, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.
