THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $68,551,174 budget for 2015-16, a 1.87 percent increase from the current $67,291,428. The local tax levy would rise 1.35 percent, from $49,260,311 to $49,925,346. The increase equals the state's tax-cap limit of 1.35 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.

The dollar amount of the school tax paid on an average single-family home in the district would increase 0.94 percent, from $8,377.66 to $8,456.22.

Teachers receive a 2.25 percent contractual salary increase, but no step increase. The proposed budget adds eight full-time special education teacher positions. Programs are maintained at current levels.
