Shots fired in Bay Shore

Suffolk Third Squad detectives responded to shots fired in Bay Shore in the area near Central and Mattituck boulevards Tuesday night, police said.

The shots were reported around 9:40 p.m.

Detectives requested assistance from a police helicopter and K-9 units, police said, and streets in the residential neighborhood were closed to traffic.

Police had no further information.
