Superstorm Sandy brought down a large tree and uprooted the sidewalk on my block. The Town of Smithtown removed the tree and stump shortly after, but the broken sidewalk was left in a pile. This is not only an eyesore, but also a hazard since this is a school bus stop. It's been a year and a half. Please help.

The last time we checked, slabs of sidewalk were still stacked up at the curb on Bee Drive. But last week we learned they're on the town's list of jobs expected to be performed soon.

The Smithtown Highway Department said the location is one of many still in need of such repair. Barring a stretch of inclement weather, all of those jobs should be completed by the end of the month, the department said. Crews will remove the remains of the old sidewalk and install a new one.
