A man who drowned in the waters off Coopers Beach in Southampton on Sept. 16 has been identified as Timothy Allen Osborne, 46, of Singapore, police said Tuesday.

Southampton Village police said a 911 call received at 12:31 p.m. reported that two swimmers were in the water, in distress, and that a female swimmer, whose identity was not released, “did manage to get back to the beach” safely — while Osborne did not.

Beachgoers pulled Osborne from the water, police said, and responding officers performed CPR on the victim, who was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Police said Osborne was pronounced dead at 1:21 p.m.
