Six-year-old boy in critical condition after near-drowning, police say
A six-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition after he nearly drowned at a Bay Shore home's pool on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.
The boy, who is from Milton, Canada, was visiting relatives on Krause Street, police said in a statement. Police were called about 12:15 p.m.
Third Precinct Police Officer Michael Scaturro administered CPR to the boy before the Brentwood Legion Ambulance arrived.
The boy was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore before he was transferred to Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park.
Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Third Squad are investigating. The boy's name was not released.
