A Smithtown woman suffered injuries in a fire Sunday that destroyed her home, officials said.

The fire at 4 Welsley Lane started for unknown reasons just before 4 p.m. Sunday, said Jeff Bressler, a spokesman for the Smithtown Fire Department.

Firefighters from the Smithtown, Nesconset, Hauppauge, Nissequogue and Kings Park fire departments battled the blaze until it was knocked down at about 6 p.m. Bressler said.

The injured homeowner was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, where her condition was not known. No firefighters were injured. The home will need to be demolished, Bressler said.

"There was nothing to save," he said.
