Smithtown hosts Halloween-themed event on Saturday for students up to the third grade
The Smithtown Recreation Department plans to host a free, Halloween-themed event this weekend for children up to the third grade.
The "Ghosts & Goblins Day" on Saturday includes a costume parade, petting zoo, music, balloon twisting, face painting and games, organizers said. The recreation department has hosted the event for more than 25 years, a recreation department official said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to contribute to a townwide food drive for the Smithtown Emergency Food Pantry. Those who donate will receive a raffle ticket that can qualify them for a prize, town officials said.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Brady Park on Maple Avenue in Smithtown. A rain date is scheduled for the same time on Sunday. For more information, call 631-360-7644.
