A man was seriously injured after the golf cart he was riding in overturned Sunday on a St. James course, Suffolk County police said.
Dennis Joyce, 65, of Smithtown, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after the cart he was in with golfing companion John Cerbone, in his 50s, of Centereach, flipped as it slid down a hill, police said.
The incident happened at 12:43 p.m. as the two men had been looking for a ball.
Joyce, who was the passenger in the cart, suffered serious injuries, and was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital, according to police. Cerbone was not injured, they said.
No one at the golf club was available for comment Sunday afternoon.
