A 40-year-old Nesconset man turned himself in to Suffolk County police Wednesday, believing he might be the snowmobile driver who hit a Lake Grove teen on Dec. 26, according to a police spokeswoman.

Louis Clark told police he was watching television on New Year's Eve when he saw a news report of a boy who was hit by a snowmobile in Lake Ronkonkoma.

The boy, 14, was playing in the snow on Brown's Road at about 8:45 p.m. when he was struck by the snowmobile, a police spokeswoman said. Police did not identify the victim or have details on his injuries.

Clark "realized he was in the area and thought he might be involved," the spokeswoman said.

Clark is charged with criminal negligence and assault, police said. He was released after being issued a field appearance ticket and is due Feb. 28 at First District Court in Central Islip.
