Southampton cops charge 3 with DWI
A Center Moriches man stopped for talking Sunday on his cell phone and failing to stay in his lane faces a drunken driving charge, Southampton Town police said.
Jose M. Galvez, 29, was driving on Flanders Road at about 3:19 a.m., using his phone without a hands-free device and swerving out of his lane, police said.
When police pulled him over, Galvez was intoxicated, police said. He was taken to the Southampton Town police headquarters and charged with DWI, prohibited use of a cell phone and several traffic violations, police said.
He is scheduled for arraignment Monday at Southampton Town Justice Court.
Police also arrested a Hampton Bays man on a DWI charge at about 4:14 a.m. after police said he was stopped for failing to stay in his lane on Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays.
Edgar F. Fajardo-Saldana, 27, was pulled over and found to be intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and charged with DWI and several traffic violations, police said. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday.
On Saturday, at about 11:15 p.m., John H. Nelson, 49, of Sag Harbor, was arrested and charged with a felony DWI after being pulled over on Montauk Highway in East Quogue for driving with tinted windows, police said.
His arraignment information was not immediately available.
