Southampton Town Police have charged two men with drunken driving after separate accidents Sunday.

In the first, a Southampton man was arrested on drunken-driving and public urination charges after an accident Sunday night on County Road 39, Southampton police said.

Police were on patrol at about 7:44 p.m. when they came upon an accident at the intersection of County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road in the hamlet of Southampton. An investigation revealed that one of the drivers, Ronald G. Mata-Mora, 43, was intoxicated, police said.

There were no injuries, police said.

Mata-Mora was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and public urination. He was taken to the Southampton Town Police Headquarters, where he was held for arraignment. His arraignment information was not immediately available.

In the other incident, a North Sea man who drove his car into two trees off Roses Grove Road Sunday night was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, Southampton police said.

Jeffrey S. Phillips, 40, failed to maintain his lane, left the road and struck the trees at about 8:47 p.m. in the hamlet of North Sea, police said. He was not injured.

Phillips was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated and taken to Southampton Town police headquarters, police said. Arraignment information was not immediately available.
