A 54-year-old Southampton woman was arrested on a charge of drunken driving after a police officer said he saw her stop her vehicle in the middle of a road, exit the car -- and promptly fall down.

Southampton Town police said the incident occurred at 7:10 p.m. Monday on Cove Road in Southampton.

Arrested was driver Donna Hippner, 54, who police said was charged with driving while intoxicated. Hippner faces arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

A statement issued by Southampton police said: "Hippner was arrested after she was observed stopped in the middle of Cove Road in Southampton, and she fell down upon exiting the vehicle." Additional details were not available.
