Southern State Parkway re-opens after crash

All eastbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway at exit 31 in Farmingdale were closed this morning due to an accident investigation, state police said, and were opened again to traffic at about 11 a.m.
Police directed eastbound traffic onto the Bethpage State Parkway, and encouraged motorists to take alternate routes to avoid traffic backups.
The accident was under investigation and state police had no details to release at 7 p.m.
