It turned out Eulices Rodriguez was not his brother's keeper - and, police said, certainly wasn't his brother, Ronald.

But that wasn't what Ronald Rodriguez told the cops after he was arrested by the Southold Town police Tuesday night on Route 25 in Peconic.

Police said Ronald Rodriguez claimed his name was Eulices Rodriguez after officers stopped his 2007 GMC pickup truck as it traveled westbound on Route 25 in "an erratic manner" at 5:08 p.m. He was arrested and charged with DWI.

However, those charges were upgraded to include second-degree criminal impersonation after police learned that Eulices was not a Brentwood man named Eulices - that he was Ronald, 29, of 12 Pierson Road in Flanders.

"Rodriguez gave his brother's name and was charged with criminal impersonation second degree," police said in a prepared statement.

Rodriguez was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.
