A 20-year-old woman was hospitalized for evaluation after police said she drove her car into the water off Founders Landing Park in Southold on Monday.

The woman, identified as Julisa Coria of Southold, was not injured in the incident at 5:34 p.m., Southold Town police said in a news release.

Police said Coria was able to exit the vehicle -- and get safely to shore.

The Southold Fire Department dispatched a diver to make sure no one was trapped in the vehicle and an investigation determined Coria was alone in the car, police said.

The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop.
