Southold woman faces DWI charge
A Southold woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving -- and, her vehicle was seized -- after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in Cutchogue, police said.
Joan Pollina, 57, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after the crash on Route 25 just after 5:30 p.m. that injured a Southold couple in the vehicle she hit, Southold Town Police said.
Police said Ricky and MaryAnn Palumbo, 49 and 48, respectively, were taken by the Cutchogue Fire Department to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries after the crash.
Police said that an investigation determined Pollina, driving a 2010 Toyota westbound on Route 25, crossed over the double-yellow line and struck the Palumbos, who were turning onto Route 25 from Eugenes Road. Police said Pollina was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because of a previous DWI conviction. Her car was seized.
Arraignment details were not immediately available.
