A 6-foot-long alligator was relocated safely from a Medford home to a licensed wildlife sanctuary out of state, the Suffolk County SPCA said Monday.
The animal protection group and the state Department of Environmental Conservation worked together to remove the gator after receiving a complaint on Sunday, according to a release from the Suffolk County SPCA.
The gator’s owner was charged with illegally keeping a reptile without a license, according to Suffolk SPCA Chief Roy Gross.
“Alligators do not make good pets and one of this size could be deadly,” Gross said.
