SPCA investigates death of pit bull found in plastic bag in Central Islip
The Suffolk County SPCA is trying to determine who strangled and hogtied a young female pit bull, found dead Tuesday in Central Islip.
The animal protection group said the dog was found at about 1 p.m. on Audwin Road in a black plastic bag and that the inside of the dog's mouth was burned.
Results of a necropsy were not immediately available, the agency's chief, Roy Gross, said Thursday.
A reward of $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, according to a news release.
