SPCA investigates death of 2 kittens in Patchogue

The Suffolk County SPCA is investigating the deaths of two kittens allegedly thrown from a car Monday in Patchogue, and has increased the reward for information in the case.

A witness saw the live kittens tossed out the window of a white sedan “speeding through a stop sign” on Log Road, in the vicinity of Buckley Road and the intersection of Risley Road and Prince Street, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Tuesday in a news release.

The kittens, which “appear to be standard household cats,” sustained fatal injuries, the SPCA said.

The SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward and the New York State Humane Association is offering an additional $1,000 for information in the case.

The SPCA first offered a $2,000 reward on Tuesday. The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, a nonprofit in Hampton Bays, added the extra $3,000, the SPCA said Friday.
