The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward to help determine who shot and killed an adult cat with an arrow in Medford, the animal protection agency said Wednesday.

The cat, a domestic short-hair female, about five years old, was still alive when it came to the porch of a Richmond Avenue home in Medford Tuesday night, according to Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA.

The arrow entered the cat from the right back leg and came out through the abdomen, Gross said.

A resident of the home called the SPCA, and officers took the cat to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter, where it later died from its wounds.

Anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the killing is eligible for the reward, Gross said.

Anyone with information can call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
