If the John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Facility is sold, two daughters of the late lawmaker say, he would want his name removed from the building. In an emotional appeal to county lawmakers, Patricia Foley Kuhnsaid, "If it went private, he said he did not want his name associated with it." Nearly two decades ago, Foley led a similar fight to block the sale of the home and won funding to build the five-story 264-bed complex in Yaphank that bears his name. Mary Ann Foley Hugcarried a picture of her father taken when the complex was dedicated. Former County Executive Robert Gaffneyinscribed the photo "The culmination of a dream."
