A South Setauket man was killed early Saturday when he crashed into a tractor trailer backing into an Acura dealership in St. James, police said.

Robert Greene, 33, was driving a 2012 Ford Taurus east on Middle Country Road when he crashed into the semi-truck backing into the dealership, at 780 Middle Country Rd., at 3:35 a.m., police said.

Greene was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, Azeddine Fridjat, 57, of Enfield, Conn., was not injured.

The Taurus was impounded and the tractor trailer was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
