State cuts fees for Suffolk golf courses
The state parks department has introduced new reduced winter golf greens fees at Montauk Downs and Sunken Meadow state parks.
At the 18-hole, par-72 course at Montauk Downs in Montauk, the new fees in effect through March 30 include $29 for weekday play, down from $43, with a twilight rate of $20, reduced from $26.
Weekend and holiday rates will be $48 with a twilight rate of $29.
Rates for seniors and juniors, Monday through Friday only, will be $20, down from $34, with a twilight rate, beginning at 1 p.m., of $15, reduced from $21.
Cart rental fees have been set at $11 per person for 18 holes and $7 for twilight play.
The course is open daily, weather permitting, with the first tee time at 8 a.m. There is also a reservation fee of $5 per golfer.

New fees for the three nine-hole courses at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park will begin Nov. 28 and continue through March 30.
Playing nine holes will cost $15 and playing 18 will be $20.
Seniors can play nine holes for $10 or 18 for $15. The cart rental fees will be $7 per person for nine holes and $10 per person for 18 holes.
The Sunken Meadow courses are open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are required, and there is a $5 reservation fee per golfer.

Both parks require golfers to register at the clubhouses with a copy of their driver's license.
Thereafter, they can make reservations by calling the courses' automated reservations line.
