Suffolk County police said Friday they have recovered three flags stolen from a Mastic Beach park in August.
A police spokeswoman said it was not clear how the flags were returned because officers working the case were not immediately available to provide more information.
At about 8:35 p.m. on Aug. 25, two men and a woman climbed the flagpole at Osprey Park on Oceanview Drive, removing a U.S. flag, a Town of Brookhaven flag and a Prisoner of War flag.
On Wednesday, police released photographs of the three taken from video surveillance at the park.
