Suffolk Conservative Party amends donation filing

Hours after the New York Public Interest Research Group assailed Suffolk Conservative chairman Edward Walsh for taking $50,000 in corporate money from a conservative activist in "apparent violation" of state law, the party revised its filing.

Tuesday, the Suffolk County Conservative Chairman's Club amended its campaign report to show David Koch of Koch Industries made an individual donation in that amount. Under state law, corporations can give up to $5,000 total to all campaigns, and individuals, $102,000 per candidate. Walsh said the party treasurer mistakenly listed Koch's Manhattan business address even though the check came from a personal account.-- Rick Brand
