Suffolk County police and Crime Stoppers are looking for a man who used another person's checking account information to steal about $685 worth of merchandise from stores in Amityville, Lindenhurst and Copiague, according to a Wednesday crime alert.

The identity theft unit also released photographs of the suspect from video surveillance cameras at the stores.

On Oct. 13, between 7:45 a.m. and 9 p.m., the man used information from the checking account to make purchases at stores along Montauk Highway in Amityville, Lindenhurst and Copiague, police said.

Police said the man, who has several tattoos on his arms and legs, was not authorized to use the other person's checking account to make the purchases.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
