Suffolk police Thursday released a sketch of one of two men they say harassed a 14-year-old girl after following her from a school bus stop in Lake Grove on Nov. 17.

The incident occurred at 5 p.m. near the bus stop at Middle Country Road and Dietz Avenue, police said.

The two men were in a dark-colored, four-door Toyota Camry, and they yelled at the girl to get into the car, police said.

She ran from the scene, police said, and hid behind a nearby home as the men circled, trying to find her before driving away.

The passenger, who is the man pictured in the sketch, was described as in his late 30s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 180 pounds with black hair and an accent.

The driver was described as being about 6 feet tall, 160 pounds and in his early 40s.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for a cash reward of $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Suffolk police Thursday also looked into a report of an East Northport Middle School student being followed by a driver, but eventually determined it was a misunderstanding.

The girl was walking to school Thursday morning when an SUV driver told her twice to get into the car, according to the Northport-East Northport school district in an online warning letter to parents.

"The student replied, 'No,' and the SUV pulled away quickly," wrote Superintendent Marylou McDermott and security supervisor Nolan Briggs.

"Please continue to remind your children about the dangers of talking to strangers and strategies they will utilize when they are approached by an unknown person," the district officials wrote.

Suffolk police said the case has been closed. They declined to give details of the misunderstanding. With Ellen Yan
