A woman walking across the street in Huntington Station was struck and killed Monday night, Suffolk County police said.

Margaret Smith, 60, of Huntington Station, was crossing New York Avenue at the intersection of Railroad Street when she was struck by 2001 Chevrolet Suburban about 10 p.m., police said.

She was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Segundo Carchi, 46, of Corona, Queens, was not injured, police said.

Detectives said the vehicle was inspected for a safety check, and asked anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
