Suffolk Democrats plan to name Deborah Pfeiffer, who's from a prominent Islip Democratic family, to oppose Assemb. Andrew Garbarino (R-Sayville).

Pfieffer is married to Suffolk's legislative counsel George Nolan, brother of Suffolk Off-Track Betting Corp. president Phil Nolan. She's a former OTB spokeswoman who moved to the Suffolk County Water Authority last month as $75,000-a-year record retention officer.

Democrats are renominating their Assembly incumbents except Robert Sweeney, who's retiring and for whom a would-be successor has yet to be chosen. In other GOP-held districts, the party backs Thomas Schillaro, Deborah Slinkowsky, Jason Zove, Edward Buturla and Jeffrey Naness.-- Rick Brand
