The Suffolk Legislature will meet in Hauppauge Tuesday but it is "up in the air" whether lawmakers will vote on vetoes County Executive Steve Levy is expected to issue today, said legislative spokeswoman Kara Hahn. The reason: Legis. Jon Cooper (D-Huntington) remained hospitalized Friday after suffering a burst appendix earlier in the week. Without his vote, lawmakers may be unable to override Levy on key issues. County lawmakers have 10 days to override any Levy vetoes, but are under pressure to act quickly - tax warrants must be prepared for tax bills to be sent out early next month.
