A Suffolk County police officer suffered a minor neck injury when the driver of a car involved in a minor traffic accident exited her car and forgot to first put it in park, police said Tuesday.

The accident occurred near Chereb Lane in Port Jefferson Station at 11:17 p.m. Monday. The officer was in his patrol car when the car the woman had exited rolled into his, police said. The driver was not charged. Police did not release the driver's identity, but said she had been involved in a minor two-car accident.

The identity of the officer also was not released. He was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was treated for the neck injury and released.
