A Suffolk County Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries when a driver made a left turn Thursday night on Vanderbilt Motor Parkway in Commack, crashing into the marked patrol unit, police said. The other driver was not injured.

Police said the crash occurred at 7:30 p.m.

The officer was headed west in the right lane, police said, when the 42-year-old male driver of an eastbound Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle made a left turn in front of him — striking his patrol car.

The officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. Police said there was no criminality.
