Four people, including a Suffolk police officer, were taken to the hospital Friday night after the officer's vehicle and a van collided at a Brentwood intersection, police said.

The Third Precinct officer and a woman driving the van crashed into each other at Suffolk Avenue and Wicks Road at about 7:35 p.m., police said.

At the time of the crash, the officer was responding to a call, police said.

Police said the van overturned and struck another vehicle, which then collided with a fourth vehicle.

The officer, driver of the van and her two passengers were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said. Their identities were not released.

The drivers of the other vehicles refused medical attention at the scene.

Further details of the accident were not immediately available.
