Suffolk Off-Track Betting Corp. has filed for bankruptcy, spokeswoman Debbie Pfeiffer said Saturday.

The troubled agency filed for bankruptcy late last week.

The agency has said it would close half of its dozen branches -- including Huntington -- by month's end.

The agency's president said before the filing that the bankruptcy filing would supply "the financial tools to do the things we need to do."

The agency has said it would decide which branches to close based on productivity.
