Suffolk County's Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a 45-year-old Medford woman as a murder, police said Tuesday.

An autopsy is scheduled for Bonnie Farrell, who was found dead on the floor in a bedroom of her Norway Pine Drive home about 8:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

Farrell, who had a head injury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fifth Precinct officers were called to the residence after Farrell's husband, Eric Connolly, 47, found his wife dead in the bedroom, police said.

There was no sign of a forced entry at the home, said Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, commanding officer of the Suffolk Police Homicide Squad. He said there were five people in the home when Farrell's body was discovered and everyone was being interviewed to establish a timeline of when she was killed. Police did not disclose if they have leads or suspects in the case.

Fitzpatrick said the couple were a blended family with six children combined between the two.

A neighbor Tuesday described the victim as nice and the couple as friendly.

Marie Stuart, who lives two houses from the victim and has lived in the neighborhood for 15 years, said she spoke to Bonnie Farrell occasionally.

"They always seemed very friendly," Stuart said of the couple. Stuart said she thought the two had lived in the house for about four years. She said Farrell was a nurse and that Connolly is in real estate.

"It's scary that it happened so close," Stuart said. "It's such a sad situation."

The investigation is continuing, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
