Suffolk police: Men arrested after robbing poker players
When the owner of a Sayville home refused to let two men inside during a poker game Saturday morning, the two men allegedly decided to go all in.
Suffolk police said the pair barged into the home through the side door at about 2:15 a.m. They pulled out knives and a pellet gun and robbed the homeowner and six other people playing cards, police said.
The two men, Key Martinez, 17, and Bryan Urena, 18, both of North Bellmore, took cash, car keys and cell phones and fled the home on Greenbrier Lane, police said.
Police said they received a call from the homeowner right after Martinez and Urena allegedly broke in. Four officers arrived at the scene as the two men were leaving the home, police said.
After a short chase on foot, Martinez and Urena were arrested by the officers, who found the weapons and a backpack with the stolen goods, police said.
Police said the homeowner did not know the two men. They said it was unclear if the other card players knew them.
Martinez and Urena face first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery charges. They are scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Central Islip.
