Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory is hosting an event at the Copiague Memorial Public Library on Wednesday to discuss scams that target senior citizens.

Gregory (D-Amityville) will be joined by officials from the Suffolk County Police Department, who will offer information on the techniques scammers use to defraud the elderly, measures individuals can take to protect themselves from such schemes and what to do if a scam has occurred, according to a news release from Gregory’s office.

The goal of the event is to “keep residents up to date on the many types of scams senior citizens typically fall victim to,” according to the release.

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the library, 50 Deauville Blvd.
